SUMMARY:S. Dexter Squibb Distinguished Lecture in Chemistry
DESCRIPTION:Dr. Kenneth B. Wagener\, Butler Chaired Professor Emeritus and Butler Laboratory Director Emeritus of the University of Florida\, is the speaker for the 27th Annual S. Dexter Squibb Distinguished Lecture Series in Chemistry. On Monday\, November 17 at 7:00pm\, he will be speaking on “The Positives and Negatives of Plastics in Today’s Society.” \nDr. Wagener is a polymer chemist whose current research focused on sustainability of polyolefins and a pioneer in acyclic diene metathesis (ADMET) polymerization\nchemistry. Dr. Wagener holds 66 patents and has 350 publications. This year\, he was the keynote speaker at the 25th International Symposium on Metathesis in Liege\, Belgium\, and he has spoken and taught around the world. Dr. Wagener was also an adjunct professor of Chemistry at UNC Asheville from 1979 to 1984. \nThe S. Dexter Squibb Distinguished Lecture Series in Chemistry is an annual highlight for the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry.
