Student Spotlight

During my internship at Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina, I worked as a Data Analyst/Industrial Engineer Intern on the Workforce Management team, where I led a time-motion study to update outdated work rate data for membership case agents. I used this data to build a staffing model that shows how many agents are needed based on case volume, and that model is now used by both the Workforce Management and Membership teams to plan staffing and schedules more effectively. This experience gave me firsthand insight into how data analysis is applied in real-world settings to solve operational challenges. It helped confirm my desire to pursue a career in data analysis and allowed me to apply skills I developed through UNC Asheville class projects, especially in Software Engineering and Big Data Analytics.
