UNC Asheville has made an enormous impact on both my graduate education and career journey. My undergraduate experience provided a strong foundation that I continue to draw upon every day. The lessons I learned in developmental psychology, for example, help me assess and support children with autism spectrum disorder in my current work in early intervention. My time at UNCA also gave me invaluable research experience—examining the lack of mental health resources in rural western North Carolina and working directly with patients at MAHEC to improve psychiatric care. These opportunities not only strengthened my academic skills but also deepened my passion for making a difference in the lives of others."
