College of Humanities Arts and Social Sciences
The College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences brings together creative and scholarly disciplines that explore culture, expression, society, and the human experience. Rooted in our liberal arts tradition, the college offers small, collaborative classes; faculty-mentored research; and opportunities for community engagement that help students develop critical thinking, strong communication skills, and a broad global perspective. From the arts and humanities to the social and behavioral sciences, the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences prepares graduates to navigate complex challenges, lead with empathy, and make meaningful contributions in a rapidly changing world.
College of Natural and Human Sciences
The College of Natural and Human Sciences unites the rigor of the sciences with a commitment to understanding humanity. Through disciplines ranging from biology, chemistry, environmental science, and physics to psychology, public health, and exercise science, the college fosters discovery and innovation in both the natural world and human behavior. Students benefit from hands-on, collaborative research, small class sizes, and mentorship by faculty who are deeply engaged in their fields. Pre-Professional Programs
UNC Asheville’s Pre-Professional Programs offer focused preparation for students pursuing pathways in pre-law, pre-health, and teacher licensure. Through personalized advising, intentional course planning, and experiential learning, students receive the support needed to prepare for professional schools and certification processes. Pre-health tracks—including medicine, pharmacy, dental, and veterinary—provide guidance on requisite coursework, clinical experience, and application readiness. Pre-law students benefit from mentorship and opportunities that strengthen analytical reasoning, writing, and advocacy skills. Teacher licensure candidates gain the academic foundation and classroom experience needed to become effective educators.
