Registration Lab Information
Registration Labs are designed for advisors to show a group of students how to navigate the registration process, craft their schedules, and troubleshoot registration obstacles. They are not intended to be, nor do they replace, individual advising sessions, and the facilitator cannot provide your RAN (Registration Access Number).

Advising for Students
First-Year Students
Your first semester at UNCA is yours to shape — and we’re here to help you build it. Follow the steps below to complete enrollment, choose your courses, and register with confidence. After you register, a Student Success Specialist will review your schedule and follow up with any feedback. You don’t have to figure it all out on your own.
New Transfer or Post-Bacc Students
You’ve already done the hard part — now let’s make sure your credits count and your path is clear. Whether you’re coming from a community college, another university, or somewhere in between, UNCA is ready to meet you where you are. Follow the steps below to get registered, connect with an advisor, and start building toward your degree with confidence.
Honors Students
The Honors Program at UNCA is for students who want to go deeper — more rigorous coursework, closer faculty relationships, and an academic experience built around curiosity and ambition. Your faculty advisor is your guide, and the Honors team is an additional resource whenever you need it. Reach out to honors@unca.edu to connect.
Engineering Students
Engineering students at UNC Asheville follow the curriculum requirements of a generalized NC State University engineering curriculum beginning in the first semester. As your career decisions solidify, your course of study will be tailored to the curriculum of choice.

How Advising Works
Every student gets an advisor
All degree-seeking students are assigned a Student Success Specialist before or during their first semester — no action required.
You’ll gain a faculty advisor too
Once you declare your major, you’ll be paired with a faculty advisor in your department who knows your field inside and out.
Multiple advisors are possible
Double major? Minor? You can have advisors across academic areas — so every part of your degree has dedicated support.
