Greenfest: Local Cloth – Wanna Kwandi?

March 25 @ 4:00 pm 6:00 pm

Take part in Wanna Kawandi? from 4-6 p.m. in Highsmith Student Union, Mountain Suite 229. Led by Asheville-based nonprofit Local Cloth, this interactive workshop introduces participants to the tradition of Kawandi quilting while emphasizing creativity, sustainability, and reuse.

Kawandi quilts, traditionally made by Siddhi women, are unique in both technique and process—constructed entirely by hand and built from the outside in using small fabric scraps. In this workshop, participants will create their own piece while learning about the cultural significance and sustainable practices behind this art form. All materials will be provided, though attendees are welcome to bring any special fabric pieces they’d like to incorporate into their design.
