Greenfest: SEC Turmeric Sun Printing

March 27 @ 1:30 pm 3:30 pm

Experiment with one of the earliest forms of photography at the SEC Turmeric Sun Printing workshop from 1:30-3:30 p.m. at Castanea Garden (located in the Sam Millar Forest Complex). Hosted by the SEC Gardeners, this hands-on session invites participants to create botanical prints using turmeric, plant materials, and the power of the sun.

Using a process known as anthotypes, participants will arrange leaves, flowers, and other objects on light-sensitive, plant-dyed paper to produce unique, naturally developed images. This sustainable art form blends creativity with science.

All materials will be provided, but participants are welcome to bring small, flat botanicals or objects to incorporate into their designs. Whether you’re interested in art, photography, sustainability, or simply spending time outdoors, this workshop offers a fun and creative experience in a beautiful garden setting.
