Tapestry of America

April 3 @ 5:30 pm 8:30 pm

Explore the beauty and complexity of America’s public lands at Tapestry of America: A Visual Journey Through America’s National Parks, an interdisciplinary project by UNC Asheville biology student Phoebe Carnes. This compelling exhibition and presentation weaves together photography and science to highlight the wildlife, landscapes, and stories found across some of the country’s most iconic national parks.

Inspired by her upbringing near Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Carnes has spent the past year traveling to parks including Yellowstone, the Everglades, Death Valley, and Grand Teton, documenting the ecosystems and species that make these places extraordinary. Her work bridges scientific research and visual storytelling, aiming to deepen public understanding of biodiversity and inspire continued advocacy for protected lands.

Join us for a public lecture from 5:30-6:30 p.m., where Carnes will share insights from her travels and research, followed by a gallery reception from 6:30–8 p.m.
