"Our research group developed a model for tracking changes in voter satisfaction in response to changes in the ideological positions of voters and political parties. The model allows a researcher to run simulations of ideological movement given chosen initial conditions and parameter values. I appreciate the role UNC Asheville played in preparing me for and inspiring me to seek out this opportunity. Through UNC Asheville’s Undergraduate Research Office, Psychology majors have exceptional opportunities to design and conduct original, faculty-mentored projects — from studying memory and decision-making to exploring developmental, social, and clinical applications of psychology. Students can apply for research grants to support their work and receive funding to present at regional and national conferences, including the National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR). Many Psychology students publish their findings in the UNC Asheville Journal of Undergraduate Research, gaining valuable experience that prepares them for graduate study, professional schools, and careers in counseling, healthcare, education, or research. The Undergraduate Research Office supports every step of this journey, helping students turn curiosity into discovery.
