Key Center for Community Engaged Learning
Now housed under Student Engagement, the Key Center coordinates community engagement efforts for UNC Asheville students. Through service experiences, community-based research and learning, and educational programs, we support students’ growth as leaders, active citizens, and scholars in collaboration with community partners, faculty, and staff.
Access and Support
Access and Support
Our team offers programs and resources designed to support students from all backgrounds, including First-Generation, Veterans & Active Service Members, and Transfer students. Explore opportunities to celebrate milestones, build community, access guidance, and connect with campus support, including specialized programs tailored to your needs.
The Side Door
The Side Door
The Side Door is a resource-rich, student-centered hub designed for connection, care, and community. Home to the Food Equity Initiative, the space strengthens campus efforts to support basic needs and student well-being while offering amenities like a kitchenette, televisions, board games, books, and flexible seating. Here, students can also find expanded support for voter registration, financial literacy, and more.
Co-created by students and staff, The Side Door was intentionally designed to feel cozy, welcoming, and affirming—a place not just to pass through, but to stay. Whether studying, relaxing, meeting with others, or recharging, students will find a supportive environment that inspires collaboration and belonging.
Email us at studentengagement@unca.edu to learn more about the Side Door and how you can utilize this space.
