Develop a Global Perspective
At UNC Asheville, the German minor emphasizes intercultural comparisons and immersion into the cultures of German-speaking countries. You develop analytical, functional, and creative writing skills while engaging with current events, films, literature, and other authentic materials from the region. Courses bring language learning to life by examining real-world topics through a globally focused curriculum that expands your worldview and connects your studies to contemporary contexts. We also offer a pathway for German studies with teacher licensure.

Study Abroad Opportunities
In the Department of Languages and Literatures, students are encouraged to engage in many experiential learning and extra –curricular opportunities that we offer. Each language of the department provides different faculty-led study abroad programs and trips, clubs, internships, and service learning. We work closely with study abroad staff to ensure students get a truly international experience. We also collaborate with several national honor societies, and assist our students in finding awards and scholarships.
