University of North Carolina Asheville Textbook and Course Material Program

Rocky’s Bulldog Bundle is the textbook and course material rental program offered by Barnes & Noble College. The program supports student success by ensuring they have access to all required course materials without the need to shop around before the first day of class.

Rocky’s Bulldog Bundle provides students access to required textbooks, lab manuals, and digital materials for an affordable rate of $22 per credit hour.

Upon registering for courses each semester, you will be automatically enrolled into Rocky’s Bulldog Bundle. Students have the option to opt-out and opt back in each semester. The opt-out window opens approximately 30 days before the first day of class and ends at the end of the add/drop period.

How it Works

Register for Classes

Upon registering for courses each semester, you will be automatically enrolled into Rocky’s Bulldog Bundle. Students have the option to opt-out and opt back in each semester. The opt-out / opt back in window opens approximately 30 days before the first day of class and ends at the end of the add/drop period.

Starting 30 days before the first day of classes, you will receive an email from Barnes & Noble College to verify your order and select your fulfillment preference.

Receive Your Textbooks

An email notification will be sent when your order is ready for pickup from the bookstore. Students can also choose to have them shipped to any mailing address for a fee.. Digital materials will be delivered for your course(s) within Canvas.


Rocky's Bulldog Bundle FAQs

Rocky’s Bulldog Bundle is a course material delivery model that simplifies the student experience, lowers the cost of materials throughout a student’s full enrollment, and ensures students have access to all required course materials on or before the first day of class. Through this innovative program, physical books are conveniently packaged and provided to students on a rental basis, and access to digital material is directly within Canvas, simply priced at $22 per credit hour. At the end of the term, students will receive email reminders to return rented physical course materials to the bookstore.

  • Register for your classes and the bookstore will start preparing your course materials.
  • Approximately one month before classes start, you will receive an email instructing you to select your delivery preference, with in-store pick-up being the most convenient option.
  • An email notification will be sent when your order is ready for pickup or when it ships.
  • Your digital course materials will be delivered for your course(s) within Canvas.

All full-time and part-time undergraduate and graduate students are eligible to participate in Rocky’s Bulldog Bundle. Auditing students, post-baccalaureate, and non-degree students are not eligible.

The program provides all required textbooks, digital course materials, lab manuals, and access codes to eligible students.

The program does not include consumable course supplies that cannot be returned and reused such as lab goggles, molecular model kits, calculators, lab coats, art supplies, or ART/STEAM building materials.

Students have the option to opt-out of Rocky’s Bulldog Bundle each semester during the opt-out window. The opt out /opt back in window is open approximately 30 days before the first day of class and ends at the end of the add/drop period. By opting out, students will not receive their required materials in a convenient package and access to digital content will be removed.

To change your opt-out status and opt back into Rocky’s Bulldog Bundle, please click [here – coming soon] or follow the instructions found in the opt-out confirmation email you received after opting-out. Please note you must make your final selection by August 21 for Fall 2026. Please click on the “Bulldog Bundle Opt Back in” button on the right-hand sidebar menu.

Students will be responsible for purchasing their required course materials  through the bookstore or other retailers. If a student drops a course, they must follow any refund policies set by the individual vendors.

The deadline to return all rental textbooks is the last day of final exams for the semester. Students will receive emailed reminders ahead of the rental deadline to return their books.

Students who fail to return Rocky’s Bulldog Bundle materials will be charged for the purchase rate of the rented materials.

Yes, the program provides you with the option to purchase any rental textbooks at a reduced rate during the semester.

Yes, you will still be required to return continuation course textbooks. You will be issued the same title for the next semester of the continuation course.

When returning Rocky’s Bulldog Bundle materials, you will receive an email reminding you to return your materials if you drop a class. Materials must be returned by the posted return deadline. If you drop a class and enroll in a different class, you will receive an email reminding you to confirm your course materials for the newly added course and to return the material(s) for the course you dropped. The bookstore will exchange the required textbooks and/or access codes.

If you have opted out of Rocky’s Bulldog Bundle program and you drop a course you must contact the vendor and follow any refund policies set by the individual vendors.

Students will receive email notifications from the bookstore reminding them to verify their order and choose their fulfillment preference. If the student does not opt-out, their materials will be held at the bookstore and their student account will be charged.

Yes, you will have 48 hours to return your textbooks. If you do not return the textbooks, the charges for the bundle will remain on your student account and you will be subject to a replacement and non-return processing fee.
